In February 2024, Colographic CEO Cathy Burds partnered with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Denver to hire her first refugee employee, Marcos from Cuba. Her efforts not only facilitated Marcos’s integration but also increased awareness of refugee hiring practices in Colorado. Cathy’s advocacy inspired other business owners to consider similar inclusive hiring practices, demonstrating the power of collective efforts and inclusivity. Cathy’s service dogs continued to play a big role in Cathy’s day-to-day life, providing her the support she needed to complete this critical project. Cathy and her service dog Sully visited Goins Elementary School in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to talk to seven classes about service dogs. The kids learned what a service dog is, what they do, and how to act around a service dog and its handler. Cathy taught them what Sully’s job is and why it’s so important. The kids got to see how a big dog like Sully can know so much and behave so well, and they were so excited for their classrooms to win stuffed versions of Sully!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
